Second Concept:
The second concept was conceived after the inventor had pondered other safety issues that this product could be used to address.
As mentioned previously, stickers used to be placed on childrens windows, so firefighters would know to rescue them first in the event of a fire.
The inventor considered why this was considered undesireable in today's society, (Also mentioned earlier) and concluded that the "lighted trim" could be used as a means to alert firefighters, friends, neighbors, relatives etc., in the event of a fire or other crisis, but not alert some child molester, or other miscreant off the street to the location of where your children are sleeping at any hour of the day or night they might happen to walk by and see the sticker.
The inventor also considered that "lighted trim" on the doors and windows could be used to visually alert neighbors, police etc. in the event of a burglary.
The Second Application:
The second application is called "lighted trim" The idea was to aid the victims of tragedy in thier evacuation of the compromised premises; facilitate quick notice to firefighters in the event of a fire the location of children, elderly, or invalid persons; alert owners, neighbors, police, and other officials via color codes etc. that a robbery, burglary, or other "alert event" was taking place.
The pieces of the application are:
1. The control module, consisting of connections to the moulding, connections to the power supply, (120 volt AC 60 hz, 12 volt or other) logic circuitry, and wiring. (Could of course be tied into same system)
2. The lighted trim, consisting of a rubberized, plastic, vinyl or other flexible trim, a hardwood, wood, vinyl, synthetic, or other rigid trim, containing lights, light emmiting diodes, or other radiation emmision devices, either in the visible spectrum, specific color spectrums, or other depending on application, dispersed along the length and embedded in the trim, extruded from the trim, or both in combination, and a battery pack, (if manufactured with a battery backup option) per length trim, set of lengths of trim, or entire system, or any combination of the above.
The trim could be manufactured so as the direction logic is configurable on the individual piece of trim itself, or in the control module and accompanying wiring. (the direction logic in an interior door frame must be set, the direction logic in an exterior door frame simply must trace around the door, either way is fine(flashing is fine too) just enough to alert your neighbor, elderly care provider, or the police officer driving by that there is a fire, burglary, injured elderly or other persons, domestic violence, or other color coded, alarm triggered transpirence of events at this location)
The "Lighted moulidng" installed on a window (Left), and a Door (Right)
The installation process:
The trim would be installed like it's common everyday counterparts. The only exceptions to this would be that it would be connected to a power supply through a control module, and or battery pack. Also if the lighted trim was manufactured with the "Local Logic"option, meaning the direction of the tracing lights would be set on a length or lengths of trim during installation, this direction must be set manually by the installer(s).
The control module installation would be similar to the installation of an alarm system, home network phone, or similar system. The control module would be set to activate the lights under a variety of conditions. This system could be used with pre-existing fire and burglar alarm systems, or other similar and needed alert systems. It could be sold with a variety of fire, earthquake, burglar or other "sensing" alarms.
