These would save many lives
Page: 1/9
These are a series of systems that I designed long before 09-11-01, but many lives that day would have been saved if these were already implemented
Emergency and other alert notification systems
I originally designed the electric flare, as a result of working around these systems.
Like I already indicated in the electric flare section, all this stuff revolved around flashing lights as a method to alert people to danger, and more specifically, exactly what that danger was so that they could better prepare for it.
My original concept involves moulding, like the kind that you would find around the baseboards at your home or workplace. Most of it is vinal these days, it comes in a roll and is simply glued onto the wall for astetic purposes.
As I stated previously, I came up with this before 9-11. I hadn't decided that this was the product to send to the invention development place, mostly because I have a virtually limitless supply.
Immidiately after 9-11, I decided that this had to be the one. It took me over a year to prepare all the documentation that I sent them, which you are about to see. The length of time that it took me to prepare is the reason why the documents are dated the way that they are, January 2003 almost exactly a year ago now.
Since I was turned down by the same outfit that I have been talking about here, I have seen two terribly and tragic events in the news that this would have prevented.
One was at a "Great White" concert, where one of the pyrotechnic displays started a fire, and many were injured and killed as a result of the mass panic in heading for the exits. The other was a night club fire with the same results
My heart sank when I saw these stories on the news because I had just been turned down to put these products on the market, they would have save countless lives already!
Again, let me stress, if you are a manufacturer, or investor, or other concerned individual who would like to produce, or otherwise participate in putting these products into building code or otherwise into use, you MUST contact me ASAP!
While thinking about how to articulate this again, I decided just to post the entire text of my original disclosure to the invention development organization, so here goes...
Document Number: 2A
Inventor: Steven Joslin
Location: Ontario, Oregon 97914
Date: Monday, January 06, 2003
Original Concept:
The original concept was conceived after the inventor had pondered ways to ease public panic and chaos in tense situations.
Panic can bring out the worst in people, often times poor judgment is one of the worst of these things. For example a crowded high rise building, apartment complex, home, business, hotel/motel complex on fire, envokes a panic in the people in the building, the people walking by the building, the people in the surrounding area, the firefighters and police who must enter the building, and in some instances, even people withing ear shot of the sirens.
The situation is the same in case of a bomb threat, public emergency, riot, out of hand demonstrators, and a variety of other situations. No matter how controlled the threat, the panic/chaos hits people when (if in particular they are about to become victims of a tragedy) they feel caged like an animal, unable to escape a forest fire, or other immenent disaster.
The first application was to combat the threat of panic in a fire, disaster, or other emergency.
The inventor saw the potential for relieving the panic of the masses of people within a facility that is in need of evacuation. The exit signs, and fire exit maps we see in every public building or establishment are there for our own protection, but how many of us study the map when we check in at our hotel room, visit a landmark, amusement park, restaurant or other public venue?
The fact of the matter is most people are too busy , consumed in thier activities, or just plain don't care to read these important postings and or make a mental note of the location of exits within the building. In other words the bulk of the populace is in serious danger of endangering themselves and others in the event of an emergency at a public place, establishment or building, because of excessive panic and anxiety.
Years ago there was a large campaign to put a sticker on the window(s) of the room(s) containing children in the house.
This, in the event of a fire, provided the firefighters with the information on arrival that the children needed to be evacuated from a specific room or rooms.
This campaign was effective in saving many lives, however with the increases in child abductions, molestation, etc. in the late 1980's, many Americans found that while it might be a life saver in the event of the fire, a kidnapper would be also allowed information on the location of children on a simple inspection of the house.
The inventor considered these and other factors in the formulation of the first two applications of the invention. From there the applications branched into more public safety, awareness, and finally future society issues.
The following is the fist embodiment of the technology.
