The Cure for the Deaf
This device allows Deaf people a more functional lifestyle

He that hath eyes to see, let him hear"

This device should have been on the market for years or at least parts of it. I have been unable to get support from an organization that would help me produce this device. Please Help!

Basically, this is also an augmentation device. It was originally concieved after thinking about trying to read lips in a conversation with various individuals. Such a circumstance would make it very difficult to adequately follow the conversation.

Have you ever heard of "you talk, it types" software? It's called voice recognition software and it's being used in a variety of industries right now. Well, why not put this into a device that would be able to interperet the different voices being heard, and add names to them on a visual LCD, or other type of display.

The speech is recognized and displayed onto the screen, along with the direction of the speaker. If the speech is recognized to be from a specific person, the device prints the name to indicate the person who said it, so that the direction of the sound becomes secondary. Once we can recognize speech, assign it to a certain person's origin, and turn it into visual cues, the only thing left to do is alert the deaf person when someone is talking to them that they are not looking at, and are not aware is speaking. The device would vibrate, if a certain decible level was reached (calibrated for different settings, crowds, rooms, halls, etc) while, and after vibration, the device would display, again the text of the spoken words, the speakers direction and the name if the person is recognized

I have many embodiments of this device, all geared towards ease of use, depending on situation.

This is the handheld embodiment

The many directional microphones on the device allow it to "guess" the most likely direction for the speaker. The directional indications are usefull when standing in a circle of people, and many people are saying things at once. This allows the deaf person to keep track of the entire conversation, as well as who said what, so that a reply can be directed to the appropriate person.

This is the glasses, or sunglasses embodiment

This is the wrist watch embodiment
