Scouting inventor's stories for the site, I came across a press release from "Accel-A-Tech" which sounded like just what the EANS are in need of.

The first step for the would-be inventor is of course to invent something new and unique that fills a void in currently available solutions. That old adage about necessity being the mother of invention couldn't be more true. Invention starts with a good idea about how to solve a common problem. Once you have your idea in mind, now we move on to the more serious side of the business, making innovation reality.

The inventor with a new invention in mind must make the critical move of documenting that invention. There is a special place to do this, a restaurant napkin may work as a "rough draft" but that simply cannot be the only place the invention is documented. Your new invention should be documented completely in what is called an "Inventor's Notebook". These notebooks are available from many sources online, and even in some local stores. The key points to look for when shopping for an inventor's notebook are a "stitched binding" and sequentially numbered pages. Once you get your inventor's notebook, keep it only for recording your inventions! No doodling, or grocery lists. Never tear out pages for other use, always maintain the integrity of the original notebook.

So you have a great invention but you have had really terrible luck trying to sell it to major manufacturers, or get it into the local monster marts. What are you to do? You may consider building a business around your invention. This is a tough road to follow, but in the end it can be the most profitable for the inventor anyway. Many inventors are naturally endowed with what is commonly referred to as an entrepreneurial spirit, well it's time to use that to your advantage.

Again be warned that this is not for everyone. You must be ready to spend long hours tirelessly working to make your business succeed. You must learn to budget, and stick as close to that budget as possible. You will have to learn a wide variety of new skills from accountant to machinist, and everything in between. If this type of thing doesn't interest you, perhaps you would be better off going back to the drawing board. Inventors may times feel pushed into this option however, so this may be your only viable road to success.

Quite funny actually, there is a definite ebb and flow to the world of IP, and the world at large for that matter. I had been thinking for the past week about a ripping article to write on the follies bound for inventors who use invention promotion companies. I have been beat to the punch though this time, and therefore I will provide you some links to the stories which I have found which were written within the last few days, as well as resources provided by the Federal government about these operations.

That's what I mean by "ebb and flow" evidently these places have it coming this week, and I truly hope some sort of act of God occurs allowing the great number of them to spontaneously combust. In the US, honorable business practices are a key to success in the long term. These companies do not play by the rules, and they do not have honorable business practices. It is therefore the right, and as I see it, the duty of the IP community to tear them apart, limb from limb.

Although these articles mentioned the folly of pursuit of such avenues, I am going to feel free to add my own two cents here, as I have had personal experience with a variety of these companies, through my own inventive efforts, and other inventors who have contacted me pleading their case against these entities. Personally, I don't think any of these articles went far enough. So I shall unleash my savage nature for a couple of paragraphs and let you know exactly where I stand on this issue.

Yes indeed, after many laborious hours typing a very complete provisional patent application, the EANS (Emergency Alert Notification System)are now patent pending. All this time spent with the project has been well worth it, and hopefully will prove to be Very lucrative within this year.

However, this time being devoted solely to the provisional application for the EANS has taken precious time away from my favorite past times, my blog, and of course this site, the Lone Inventor I should be able to dedicate some more time to these ends now, which is a great deal and I look forward to talking to, and with all of you some more.

The future of the EANS will now be to develop a corporation around these systems, and that's what I'm currently working on. If anyone knows some great tips, tricks, or simply has some good insight into how to obtain corporate financing for a fledgling corporation, I sure would appreciate the feedback. I look forward to installing the system in a city near you. :)
