It has been on my mind a lot recently, so I decided to try to gather interested parties at Sparqs Industrial Arts Club (www.sparqs.com) in Woburn, MA to engage in fabrication, design, modification, etc. of alt fuel vehicles. See the post: http://www.sparqs.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=39

We will have our first organizational meeting Friday, August 5th at 6:30PM. Please drop in or drop an email altfuel@sparqs.com.
Cheers,
Tim

PS. For those that don't know, Sparqs is a metal & wood fabrication shop that is open to businesses and hobbyists to use the tools and space. More info:

Hello sparqs, and welcome!

Sounds like a fantastic resource, and a great project! Wish I lived a little closer to Woburn! Please keep us posted on any breakthroughs you may experience. Good luck!

The group has now convened twice with a solid core group. The majority are interested in biodiesel, so we have begun to fabricate a large-scale (100+ gallons) biodiesel plant.

We made a blender batch first using free canola oil obtained through Craigslist. While the process we used was strictly by-the-book, it is cool to see the first successful batch.

Now it is on to bigger version using giant nagene tanks, 55-gallon drums, and industrial stirrers (all also obtained free from Craigslist).

I will report back on how this works out.

It couldn't be a more timely endeavor.

I couldn't agree more my friend! You did write that before the $3+ a gallon gasoline too, didn't you?

Yes, please do keep us updated with your progress. Feel free to post some pictures too if you have any.

Steve
