We are planning to adopt a section of highway, and twice a year go out and pick up trash. A dirty job, but... look for our name on the signs!

Pictures will be posted soon, so check back.

That was April - hows the adoption proceedings!! Laughing

seriously though, thats an admirable thing. I've got a topic I could post here, which was a spin off from an inventors idea on Global Ideas Bank. I emailed him, and attributed the original idea to him in my write up, but got nothing back sadly. Still maybe one day he will do a word search on his name and come across it!

I thought about adopting a section of highway here in texas but I see more trash dumped everywhere and here we have to clean our sections 2 times per month because of high traffic.
I often pondered a new idea as to how we could get the drunks to throw there beer bottles into one placfe aswell as the rich dudes passing thru and stopping at mcdonalds and such and so they dont stop just munch on the way thru then discard what is left on the highway's as they leave town.
S o my thought is that in high trash areas have what is like a soccer net placed on the highway funded by fines from the indaviduals throwing in that area to pay for these nets, start a new campain to get the litter bug's to catch the idea is that if they must chunk thier trash make then aim it at the soccer net type trash catcher's and maybe that wood work.
of corse it will work for the drunk's cause I used to be one of those that threw my bottles at the sign's givem a target and just maybe they will get it in the general area aswell as all the other's and maybe we could have claener looking road's.
I have been to a lot of the european city's and I dont know how they do it maybe they respect thier country's but youy wont see litter there.
Or maybe use satelit tracking system' in conjuncture with the texas confederate air force and when a litterburg is spotted send either a plane to shoot them down or the bombers to bomb them,
there just seem's to be no answer to the problem here in texas.

Well, it hasn't quite been two years, and the applications are in the mail and we are awaiting approval! Nothing like procrastination to keep one from achieving their goals... but things have been extremely busy around here lately.

We applied for two sections near our home, and are waiting for the posting of the signs. We have also applied to a program to be used in conjunction with this called "Project Wildflower" It is sponsored by a branch organization of AAH, wherein they provide your organization with bulk wildflower seeds to be planted along the adopted section.

We are very anxious to get the local public awareness established for the site, but it will be a while until we can actually get to the trash cleaning, as there is currently over three feet of snow out there, and it's still falling!
