1 - What's the First Step?

1 What's the First Step?

Your first step truly depends upon your invention, and your experience level in the field of developing it. If you have an electronics related invention, and you don't have the first clue about circuits or programming, your firt step should be to go online and school yourself up to date about circuits, and computer programming.

Make It Simple:

Many people don't realize that there a funtional and non-funtional prototypes either. Once again, if you build something that doesn't preform the task it may help someone else understand your invention but it may not explain it completely. Prototyping can be hired out to a company that provided this service. There are many reputable companies that will produce a variety of goods. Most of these are quite expensive though.

If you decide to prototype it yourself, try to start with something simple unless you have a background of tinkering. Take it slowly, and study construction methods that are beign used by others. There are many cheap alternatives to professional prototyping that can achieve very similar results. An informed inventor can throw together almost anything with a few simple tools.

Make It Work

When you are through with this step, literally half of the battle is won! You have reduced the device to practice thus assuring your right to it for all time.
