Does anyone profit off of going to these? 1 Are they worthwhile? 2 How much does it cost? 3 Why should I go? 4 Do I have to patent first? 1 Are they worthwhile? They sure are! There are countless inventors that have sold products to manufacturers directly through trade shows. The types of shows vary, as does the effectiveness of marketing your product there, but generally they are an essential tool at some point.There are many different types of trade shows, so find one that your product belongs at. There are also broader shows which encompass a wide variety of innovation. Do some research on Google about what shows are available in your area and when. 2 How much does it cost? Well, that of course depends on the show, and the type of requirements you have. Most trade shows offer a booth, or table which comes with certain ammeneties like 120VAC outlet, although some may charge for aditional, or enev the original power outlet.Fact: Generally they range in cost between $85 and $1000+ but usually $200 or so gets you a great package. But that's just for the cost of the show, and the marketing they may do for you. That doesn't account for travel, lodging, food etc. And that will of course vary by preference or limitation and the venue of the show. 3 Why should I go? Well, if you're even thinking about it, that must mean you have a reason to do so, right? Maybe you have a product you really want to market. There's your answer. Your innovation.You go to have fun of course. 4 Do I have to patent first? An excellent idea! Many trade shows don't want you there until you have complete legal protection, or are willing to loose it. It's always a good idea to get at least a provisional patent in the works and a "Patent Pending" Status before attending one of these events. (As an exhibitor that is) |
