1 -->Find a Place to Hear Yourself Think

It can sometimes be difficult in today's chaotic world, to set aside a small bit of time with nothing but quiet. Some days, perhaps most, you hear noise of some sort or another all day long, from dawn until dusk. Finding some quiet can often lead to innovation.

Some people prefer quiet

Some inventors prefer the hum of motors, engines, circuits, and other gadgetry in the background to stimulate thier creative side. Other inventors however by far prefer a quiet place to work. For some this is must, and that may be you. If you are having a difficult time keeping a "train of thought" you will most likely benefit from finding some time to yourself in peace and quiet.

Find what works best for you, and what stimulates you to create the most. This will be the method you will want to use.

2 --->Create a Creative Environment

Just the addition of some creative reinforcement is enough to bring fresh innovation and clarity to your mind. Many inventors report success with creating an inventive space from which thier creative energies will be unleashed.

Find yourself an area

Set up an area where you can post pictures, famous quotes, orders, things of encouragment, or anything else that keeps you going, anything that inspires you to create.

Listen to music, take a walk in the forest or a park. Nature is a very creative environment. Take a small notebook and pen with you when you walk. You may take a rest during your hike and listen to the forest, and write down any inventions that come to your mind.

The more creative your environment, the more creative you will be

3 ---->Where do I get Ideas?

Necessity is still the mother of invention. We all have encountered problems in our daily lives. What could be done to alleviate those problems?

So many problems, so little time.

If you have a problem with your car, or feel it lacks something, there is your innovation. If you see a product that could be made to add safety to a task, there is your innovation. If a friend or familiy member has a terrible problem with something and asks your advice, there is your innovation. Innovation is crying in the streets, it haunts you when you stub your toe in the dark or loose your keys. If you have a problem, the solution to it will be your innovation.

We all must endeavor to produce innovation around the problems we see, or humanity may never overcome them. If you don't fix that problem, who will? Perhaps no one. There are so many problems with the act of living, and to deal with it innovation will continue to spout from humanity until times end. Theoretically, the majority of these innovations will be for the better, and therefore make our lives fuller and more enjoyable.

Go on an invention hunt like this:

Write down a list of things that annoy you, or the people around you.

  • Think to yourself about what kind of device, apperatus, or process would be required to defeat this problem.
  • Get a few basic ideas of what could be used to solve the problem in the simplest, and smartest fashion.
  • Try to start with the simpler ones first until you've got the hang of "mental engineering"

    You should now have a large list of innovations. The next section will deal more indepth about what to do next with your invention.

    4 ----->Got It! What's Next?

    The next logical step would be to determine which invention you should pursue. You should have quite a bit to go on after Getting Innovative, now you must decide which one would be wise for you to pursue
